Prince Akeem Owoade Gets Makinde's Nod to Become New Alaafin of Oyo
In a significant development, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has formally approved Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade as the new Alaafin of Oyo.
This decision follows thorough consultations and divinations, which led to the Oyomesi recommending Prince Owoade for the esteemed position.
According to a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, the Governor's approval brings to an end the socio and legal disputes that arose after the demise of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III on April 22, 2022.
The Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ademola Ojo, has also issued a statement confirming the announcement.
He called on all citizens of Oyo State to join the government in celebrating this momentous occasion and lend their support to the new Alaafin.
With this approval, Prince Akeem Owoade is set to begin his reign as the new Alaafin of Oyo, marking a new chapter in the kingdom's history.
